SAN JOSE, Antique– Provincial officials headed by Governor Exequiel Javier leads therevival of the defunct Antique Capitol Press Corps, an association ofthe private media covering the Capitol beat last week. Through the initiative of the Provincial Information Office, theCapitol Press Corps was organized after a seminar on various mediatopics and with the dealings of the press to the provincial government.
Newly elected officers of the group were Fr. Fr. Edione Febrero(DYKARadyo Veritas), Rodelyn Pardico (Coop Cable TV)-Vice President for TV,Roger Tamon, Jr. (DYKA)-Vice President for Radio, and Ely Suyom (NewsExpress)-Vice President for Print., Joy Vego (Buenavista CableTV)-Secretary; Jose Allan Bartolo (Hot FM Bugasong)-Treasurer, andPeter Zaldivar (Hot FM-Hamtic)-Auditor.
The Capitol Press Corps was last organized during the administrationof former Governor Salvacion Perez but died of natural death aftervarious officials ceased to function. With the revival, mediaorganizations are hoping that the press corps will serve as a mediumfor a good working relationship with the press and the provincialgovernment.
Vice Governor Rhodora Cadiao were also present during the election and pledged her support to the new mediaassociation. Governor Javier meanwhile said the formation of the newmedia group is aimed in promoting transparency in his governance whereinformation on policies and programs of the provincial government willbe freely available to the media.
